Harry and Sally are wrong, but what about grey?

Image
Were Harry and Sally wrong?  If you're over the age of 26 most of you have probably seen "When Harry Met Sally", a popular 80s movie about friends becoming lovers, then back to friends, then ultimately ending up together.  The funny part about the movie is the commentators and camera "confessionals" where Harry and Sally talk about how they can, or CANT, have friends of the opposite sex because sex always gets in the way. Well, in some subcultures, esp once married, its almost as if having opposite-sex friendships is taboo. This makes me sad.  Thankfully I have friends ok with going against the religious cultural 'norm', but then again, I have always been a rebel.  I'd like to think Jesus was a rebel too. Afterall, didn't he hang out with prostitutes? And his guy friends weren't exactly class president.  So while I may appear a bit "rebel-ish" I don't want you to mistake this for being ok with going against values and standa...

"it's like sunshine and whiskey..."  the song fades out and the morning DJ segues into the next song on her playlist " So cannot wait for this concert, nonetheless a sold out show at Red Rocks folks, but if you'll be there be sure to swing on by and say hi... overcoming dragons with reckless confidence

Image
Faith is the heroic effort of your life, you fling yourself in reckless confidence on God. I just came down from one of the most difficult and yet best conversations of my life.  It was one of those, I never wanted to have, but in every attempt to live a "fairytale," part of this girl's journey in facing her dragons and crossing the bridge over troubled water, was the courage of FAITH! I HAD to Trust God would come through, a nd if not, I would be left flat on my nose, in a puddle of tears.   When we bow and take a posture before the one who has the power to change weather patterns, put the planets into orbit, and give us life & breath and everything else, I totally believe this is a step of faith to communicate with the divine.  Our hope is that  He WILL hear our cry and he will answer our prayers, right?  But why pray?  I mean - yes its hopefully eventually to get to a place of conversation where we can say we 'talk with God' - we say a little abo...

I sit. I look down at my half-empty coffee mug and see the words "Orange County" written along the top of the mug with the image of a surfer catching a wave below it. (Yes, I'm drinking from the ever famous Starbucks Coffee mug collection and pondering life's deeper thoughts.) I look to the left and see my hot pink and neon-yellow running shoes. If only it were a better time to go for a run perhaps I'd be running out my thoughts and energy rather than banging on the keys for a better way to release the circles my mind is running into. I see a pearl earring and some hair coloring and then a whirl of life's deepest questions come to mind. Ya know, questions like: Where the heck is that other earring? Why do I always lose 1 sock from my running socks when I wash them? And, am I ready to go all dark and forever give up my blondness? Who will call me Blondie still? Okay okay, so they're not TRULY life's deepest questions, but it seems to be the the...
